Valentine’s Day Special !!
Bye- Team Manzke
6:00 – J.Healy 71 over Harrigan 67- in one of the more surprising games of the night, Team Healy found a way to win. No team needed a win more than Team Healy after a 3 game skid. Team Harrigan it still struggling with rotation issues which need to be resolved quickly although they have 8 games to try and figure out so there is a god chance that they will never figure out. Turns out Slager did play after all despite pre-game reports to the contrary. Team Harrigan was missing Goyke, Baker and Lewandowski while Healy was “missing” Healy. Brian Harrigan is nursing a tender achilles and this could be a big problem for Team Harrigan going foward if this injury does not resolve. Mustafa, with the shackles off without his Captain to hold him back, was the x factor in this game. Despite the big win, Team Healy was a no show at the bar and at the half-way point Team Healy might have 7-8 spots locked up on the dreaded all Shame-Team. On nights when Carroll, Hunt and Slager are all playing well Team Healy will be tough to beat. Carroll did a nice job on Kevin H as he is does not get enough credit for his defense even though he is usually asked to guard the other team’s best player every week.
7:00- O’Malley-Less 64 over Wagner-Less 59- this game was close the entire time but Team Wagner simply could not ever get over the hump and take the lead. Without O’Malley missing, the bench saw significant minutes and actually made key contributions. They clearly need to see more minutes going forward. Pack, Bendo and Neil did all they could to keep the game within reach but not having both Greeno and Wags was too much to overcome. I still believe that Team Wags is better than their record but they will need a big turn-around in the second half to avoid the pay-in game. Team O’Malley is not as dominate as last year but they have shown signs of life of late and they are not ready to give up the crown just yet.
8:00- B.Healy 71 over McEldowney 63- After a sluggish start(with about 8 missed lay-ups), Team Blue rallied from a 27-13 first half deficit to take the lead 29-27 at half. Team green had multiply opportunities to bury them in the first half but could not knock down the shoot when they need to. Team Blue kept pounding the ball inside and taking advantage of their size advantage down low. Fahey will be a nice addition for team Green put it will take a team effort to replace Rob’s scoring. Team Blue with the addition of Lyons is back in the hunt but they will have a big test next week against Team Orange.
9:00 -Statham 75 over Spadoni 65- in the best game of the night, the two front runners went toe to toe for for 36 minutes until Team Orange took a 5 point lead lead and it turned into a parade to the free throw line and Team Orange made all their FTS to close out the game. Team Orange’s Big Three scored most of their points but everyone on Team Orange scored. Nichols was huge off the bench on the defensive end for team Orange. Team Yellow had a well balanced offense and spread the scoring around but Team Statham defended the 3 point shot well and only gave up 5 3 pointer for the entire game. Gierhahn was relentless and fearless going to the basket constantly drawing double-teams which allowed Jay to hit kick it out for a number of open 3s. Team Yellow and Shimko are still getting to know each other but right now that fit is a work in progress. Despite some saying Yellow is better without Shimko, I disagree. Once he plays more with his team mates, he will fit in fie and is still capable of scoring at will and taking over a game regardless of who is guarding him. Defense continues to be the achilles heel for Team Yellow.
