Bar Attendance  Lame- weather- lame excuse

At the bar, McEldowney invited Roz to sit down and chat about the game between Orange and Green which featured several controversial calls or non-calls(what else is new) and Roz responded: “No Thanks I prefer to  stand when I am getting fucked”

Note to Sully on how to handle your spouse:

Manzke gets a text at a 11:45 from his wife stating “it look like it going to be a long night” referencing some problems she is having with the kids(they are temporarily shacking up with her parents)

and Mark responds: “Wow Honey that is funny I was just about to text you the same thing” as he ordered another bucket from the bar.

Inexplicably 3 Barraco’s Pizza’s arrived at 10;00 so all the early arrivals “missed” out. I think McGuffrage left at 9:30 in tears

Random Observation : Moving screens are never called in our league so naturally everyone takes advantage of it and never never gets set on screens creating a real advantage for the offense and making it much more difficult to stop the better players.  When I asked Roz about this, his response was “I have enough to f@#$ing do out there already without having to call moving screens.” OK then-now you know.

bye- Harrigan- I heard the trust falls failed

6:00- Spadoni 69 over Wagner 66- what should have been an easy win for Team Spud, almost turned into a bad loss after Team Wagner went on a 16 -0 run to take the lead but could not hold it and Team Spud made their FTs to escape with the win. Team Wags down by 3 with the ball and 15 seconds left inexplicably passed up a 3 and passed it down low for 2 points and that was essentially the ballgame. The only two players that should have been shooting the ball at the end of the game for team but for some reason someone else thought it was a good idea to start jacking up 3s. Remember you are open for a reason. Wags No Sexton, Alkhovsky or Shimko for team Spud. No Greene, Wags, McDonogh or Rees for team Wags

7:00- McEldowney 70 over Statham 68 – In the game of the night, Team Green wins  a double-OT thriller in spectacular fashion with Pete Spain picking up a loose ball on Orange’s side of the court with 4.5 seconds left and the game tied  and raced the length of the court and threw up a runner from the FT line that was nothing but net as the buzzer sounded. This followed another buzzer beater 3 pointer at the end of the first OT by Patrick Statham to send it the second OT period after Team Orange blew a 14 point lead with 10 minutes remaining in regulation and the game went into OT. This game came down to poor game management by yours truly plain and simple. The game had the feel of a play-off game from the start with Pete Spain and Fahey putting their team on their shoulders and willing them to the win. Team Statham had no answer for Fahey down low and refused to change the match-ups which may have change the outcome of the game. Spain still had a smile on his face 3 hours later admitted that he was especially motivated for this game after playing his first 2 years for Team Orange. This game also featured 3 bank shots two By Orange were close to the basket and intentional I believe but Guinane’s 3 pointer had him even yelling “off left” as the shot left his hand. As they say, I would rather be lucky than good.

side note: This game featured a violation of some kind on the jump ball starting the second OT. The curious thing was it did not involve the two players doing the jump ball. Nothing like a ref needlessly inserted himself into a hard fought game-let the players play-the so-called violation had no impact on the jump ball whatsoever. No I am not bitter.

8:00- Healy 66 over O’Malley 42- this was an old fashioned butt-kicking in all phases of the game. Team “Back on Track” was finally playing with some desire. Carroll is probably playing as good as anyone in the league right and seems to be on a mission to carry his team. My advice to Team Healy- jump aboard and enjoy the ride. Ryan summed it up best “what a kick in the dick that was”. Are things falling part in Blackland? Have they lost their Championship swagger? Any correlation between Black’s performance on the court and their performance at the bar after being one of the better bar team’s last year. You gotta wonder.

Side note: 9 minutes in the game and none of the bench players had left the bench. You could see why since the starters were  playing so well.

Side note 2: a very brutal call on Team O’Malley to take a basket away on a 2 on 1 break. You had to see it to believe it. On a night of bad calls this one takes the prize although absolutely no reason for the player off the ball to do what he did and ultimately had no impact on the outcome of the game. The official explanation was that “He impeded the other player’s progress” Yeah right. as McCann was about to dunk the ball.

9:00-Manzke 60  over B. Healy 50- this was the McGelligot and Sexton show who were not going to be denied. Unfortunately, Matt Smallbone was injured(calf) in the first half which definitely impacted the game the rest of the way. Hopefully, Matt should  be okay but it did not look good as he left the gym. He definitely will miss next week. Team Healy continues to get hit  the injury curse but  hopefully they dodged a bullet this time. Matt will most likely recover from his calf injury before Colin recovers from being pussy whipped the latter could have a long-last effect on the team “psyche” going forward.  Kessenich looks like a lock for the all-rookie team and the all bar team.
