2 quick notes before i start ripping on people….#1, we are planning on having Louisa’s Pizza next week at the bar. this is the last week that all teams will play and it would be nice to have a good bar presence. #2. Championship night is 3-23-21 and the Hideout is making an effort to get as many of us at the bar as possible. they will be raffling off a massive TV (i think he said 65inch) and will be catering in food….also, bringing back Tom Feigl’s move, we will be recording the game and will have it playing at the bar to prove how fat and slow some of us are.
Final week of the year and a lot is on the line….the standings are bunched up and there are a ridiculous amount of scenarios that could play out. see current standings and power rankings.
Standings Power Rankings
1.B Healy 9-3 1. O’Malley (predicting a W vs Healy)
2. O’Malley 8-4 2. B Healy
3. Spadoni 8-5 3. Manzke
4. Manzke 7-6 4. J Healy
5. J Healy 6-7 5. Spadoni
6. DeCarlo 5-7 6. DeCarlo
7. Harrigan 4-8 7. Mac
8. Mac 3-10 8. Harrigan
see below for a brief description of what could happen this week.
if B Healy wins they take 1st
if O’Malley loses and Spadoni wins Spadoni takes 2nd and O’Malley takes 3rd
if O’Malley wins they take 1st
Mac is guaranteed to take last, Harrigan is guaranteed to take 7th
DeCarlo, J Healy and Manzke are all jumbled the fuck up
Manzke could get as high as # 3 with a win over J Healy and as low as #5
Healy could get as high as #4 and as low as # 6
Lots to play for…..see below for a quick recap of last week.
Manzke over Spadoni
spadoni continues to slide into the team we thought they would be. attendance is low, Larry Birdspain is out for the year with a broken finger and, to put it lightly, this team is in big trouble. Team Manzke has won 4 of their last 5 and will be a force to reckon with in the playoffs.
B Healy over Harrigan
B Healy dominates again with a big win over team Joke. Team Harrigan tried to make it a game in the 2nd half but couldnt stop team “in good shape” (seriously, think about it). the bench for team Harrigan continues to work their butts off to get on the court but it isnt working out…..not sure if anyone saw Tommy Gollogly blow by Dave Statham in week 12 but it was a sight to see….or maybe it wasnt. Tommy, next time you tell a story about blowing by someone on the basketball court, make sure the guy you have blown by is less than 60yrs old….it will make the story waaaaaay better.
O’Malley over DeCarlo.
team O’Malley was a 1 man band last week and that one man was none other than Sean Hunt. Not only did he get more than zero minutes, he scored 12 points to lead team Blue over Team Black. Sean brought his son to the game and was determined to prove his wife wrong….his kid was overheard saying that his dad stinks and cant even shoot on a 6ft rim. after the game i saw Sean pull his kid aside and it went something like this “Tim, you see that shit???? thats how you fucking win a game. Mom doesnt know shit and you tell her i said that. This is dads league, dont you fucking forget that.”
J Healy over Mac
another close game, another L for team Red. Just as their confidence was rising, team red is back in the literal and figurative cellar going into the last week of the year. Is Scott Lyons enough to lead team red to a first round upset?
Week 14 preview
great scheduling has led to an awesome last week of the year. good work Monica
Mac vs Harrigan—no line
Hilariously enough, this game means nothing. it is the only game that means nothing and it is being played by 2 teams that have amounted to almost nothing. will these teams compete for nothing? will Gollogly blow by Alex Zafra? Can Pat Harrigan make his first 3 of the year?
Manzke -4 vs J Healy
both teams have a shot at moving up in the standings….manzke could be as high as 3 and low as 5 and Healy could be as high as 4 and low as 6. John Healy has been slacking and has moved to # 4 in the oaf of the year race…..Keaty has gone in the opposite direction and is currently sitting at # 2 oaf. Can oaf # 4 outplay oaf # 2? Manzke will have to run around with Whitey and that is an issue….BUT, one thing we have to remember is Mark hasnt had a drink since 2-1. will the wheels come off at the bar tonight? wouldnt be surprised to get a call at 6am to find out Mark slept in a random car in Merrionette Park….hypothetical scenario, of course.
Spadoni -1 vs DeCarlo
same story for this game…team DeCarlo can get the 5 or 6 seed while Spadoni can go as low as 4th or as high as 2nd. Will team Spadoni bring the band back for week 14? would be tough to watch a 6-1 team slip to # 4 in the playoff seedings. Team DeCarlo has looked pretty bad lately…too many midgets and not enough big balls scorers. Losing Dan Henry hurt and Crud wont admit it. both of these teams are a dismal 2-4 in the 2nd half and could use a big win to gain momentum into the playoffs.
O’Malley -1 vs Healy
Fittingly, the game of the night is the 9pm game. i havent had one scheduling beef until i looked at the schedule this week. what the fuck Ski? this game will dictate the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds and 100% will have a playoff feel to it. Ryan Hanigan, coming off of a multiple conspiracy theory video weekend, will be the x factor in this game…..he will most likely match up with Sullivan and that will be fun to watch. Can Sully’s creepy quiet demeanor lull Hanigan to sleep? Does Hanigan know that Sully is a huge Liberal? Does Sully know that Hanigan is a QAnon member? probably gonna be pretty weird out there tonight. Matchup of the year will pit Donny “miami queen” McAvoy vs Kevin McCann. D1 athlete vs a should have been d1 athlete..Carmel vs Marist…Doubles vs Hoops….being the older statesman, Kevin has pretty much owned Don his whole life…..Story goes that Kevin once dunked on Richie McAvoy at Mt Greenwood park in a 2008 pick-up game…..Don heard the story and tried to fight Kevin. Needless to say, things didnt go well for Donny. Kevin gave him 2 black eyes and since that day, Donny’s nickname has been “Doubles”.
