Bye- Team  Mikuzis

6:00- Team Wagner -4 v. Team Spadoni

Two teams that believe that the best defense is a great offense. After a great win in Week 1 without Carroll, Team Wags shits the bed in Game 2 with Carroll proving that great defense will beat great offense on most nights. The over/under on this game is 150. These game features 4-5 of the best offensive players in the league but sometimes you can have too many guys that need the ball and not enough guys willing to sacrifice for the team and accept a  p lesser role. Despite last week’s dud, I still believe that Team Wagner is a potential final 4 team but if they lay another egg tonight my mind will be changed. Team Spadoni will continue to hover around  500 all year and could sneak by someone in the play-offs. Team Spadoni will have to get more from their Big Guys if they want to be taken seriously. Maloney is a perfect fit for this team and gives them that toughness and leadership that they were lacking the first game. Team Wagner has a lot of mouths to feed and it will be a work in progress to see how the chemistry develops as the season progresses. Mike Barry could be the “x” factor for Team Spadoni after making the winning shot in the “B” league last night with 3 seconds left, Troy McAllister could be the “x” factor for Team Wags with his contributions on defense and if he can get a few touches on the offensive end.

7:00- Team Bernard v. Team Statham –6 (possible upset special)

Team Statham will be short-handed once again with no Shrader, Cosme or the Elder. Cosme is hoping to return after the bye weeks. Mike Greene will have to be the “x’ factor and Alvosky will have to re-discover is shooting touch as Team Orange tries to stay on track after an disastrous start to the season. To his credit, Alvosky has found other ways to help his team by moving without the ball and taking the ball to the hoop. Team Statham will still have to  rely heavily on Younger Statham’s 3 point shooting until Cosme returns. Team Bernard will have to rely heavily on defense and hope that McEldowney is hot, Spain will have his hands full trying to slow him down. Smallbone will be the “x” factor as he continues to figure out his role along with everyone else on Team Bernard who are looking for there first win. This could be the night.

8:00- Team Healy v. Team Maroon -Pick-em

Two teams still trying to find their way with Manzke coming off an impressive win last week against Team Wagner and Team Healy coming off a not so impressive win over a severely under-manned Team Shimko. Team Healy needs to tweak their starting line-up to get a little more consistency and they have to get some kind of contribution off the bench. Sexauer will be the “x” factor for Team Healy. Mariner and Brown continue to be a potent 1-2 punch but they can not do it by themselves and they need to start getting some offense from their Big men and their bench which looked like one of their strong points at the beginning of the year but has not been the case so far. Team Manzke will bring tenacious defense and their speed and quickness as they do every game. The key for Team Healy will to keep Manzke and Gierhahn out of the lane and keep Goyke and Hunt from going off. The key to this game will be whether the Healy brothers can use their size advantage to offset the speed and quickness of Team Manzke. This game should come down to the final possession assuming both teams are at full strength.

9:00- Team O’Malley   v. Team Shimko -5 (Game of the Night)

Well it was suppose to be the game of the night but it turns out that McCann will not be at the game. Thus, it will be up to O’Malley to step up and show who  the real leader is on this team. In fact,  O’Malley is a brazen show of leadership has predicted a win for his team. “Mark my words. ” If that prediction is to come through it is going to take a huge team effort with O’Malley, Glanville and at least one other player carrying the load. The question is “do they have that player?”.  Team Shimko will be at relative full-strength and Alex could have a field day without McCann. They should have Glanville guard Alex and make him earn everything he gets and try to knock Alex off his game with physical play.  Bendo will be the x-factor for Team Shimko and poses major match-up problems for Team O’Malley. Jerry Hahn could be “x-factor # 2” for Team Shimko. Another key match-up will be the battle between Gainer and Tyler and whomever wins this match-up could very well decide the game. This game was billed as another preview of 2 of the  possible Final 4 teams but without McCann(unless Team O’Malley finds a way to win somehow) this game will not have much meaning going forward. If team Shimko loses Team Blue will be singing the “Blues”. I fully expect, despite McCann’s absence, for this game to be very physical and chippy and will have a play-off like feel to it. We might even see the first technical of the year. Mark my words.

Last game before we are off for two weeks for the Holidays-let’s carry that Holiday spirit onto the Court tonight and not have any nonsense. Everyone should try and make it out to the bar especially if you have yet to make an appearance.
