Bye- Mikuzis

00 – Shimko 79 over O’Malley 72- as predicted this game got a little chippy as McCann and Shimko continued their love-fest. The game almost got out of hand when McCann drove to the basket and Shimko fouled him high and hard- Shimko did grab McCann as he left his feet in an attempt to catch him otherwise it could have been ugly. Apparently, Shimko apologized afterwards but this kind of “hard foul” still has no pace in our league. Immediately after that play, Shimko opened up a 10 point lead which helped lessen the tension.  Team O’Malley is its own worse enemy. While the game was still anyone’s for the taking, Team O’Malley came down on 4 straight possessions and jack up a 3 and none of them were taken by O’Malley or McCann. Shimko’s decision to play zone was risky but it paid off. Whether  this is a good strategy going forward against Team O’Malley remains to be seen and we will see how many teams employ a similar strategy going forward. Once again, Team Shimko was carried by Alex and Bendo and time is running out to add find a BIG 3 so it looks like it will be up to Bendo and Alex to carry the team the rest of the way,

00- Statham 84 0ver Bernard 66- Team Statham motivated by “Championship Jacket” night looked liked they might put up 100 before they took the foot of the gas in the second half. Cosme, playing for the first time all year, instantly made Team Statham a contender and will make Team Statham tough to best going down the stretch. Team Bernard was short-handed but still had all of its best players as Smallbone had career night and was basically guardable in the post. McEldowney found his shooting stroke and between him and Smallbone did all they could to make a game out of it and helped Team Bernard put up enough points that would have given them a win on most nights.  Team Statham was led by young Statham, Spain and Alvosky but everyone scored contributing to the season-high league total and the ball movement was a thing of beauty.

00- Healy over Manzke- No Mariner for Team Healy but he was not needed as Derrick Brown was on fire in the first half and had an answer for evrything that Team Manzke tried to do. Team Manzke was a bit under-manned but the outcome of this game was never in doubt.

00-Wagner over Spadoni-did not see this game but Team Spadoni only had 5 guys and led most of the way but ran out of gas at the end. The most surprising thing about this game was that a technical was called and it was not on Chris Hayes.
