Draft Night is always one of the most fun nights of the entire season. 4 new captains, 20 new players ( almost a one-third turnover from last year), including 4 new players that were drafted in the 1st round. This will make it tough for Team O’Malley to repeat(but more on that later).

Draft Grades

Team B. Healy -how to screw it up when you have the over all number 1 pick and you get a former D-1 player. First 5 picks are very solid and grabbing Maloney in the 5th round is a perfect pick for this team. Now with McAvoy joining the league we have two unguardable players-it will be fun watching them play against each other.

Predicted Record 11-5

Grade- A-

Team Harrigan- with both Harrigans, Goyke and Chris Hayes Team Harrigan might have more offensive firepower than any team in the league and Hahn is a great fit. They did a nice job of grabbing some solid “bigs”  late in the draft the only problem will be working them into the rotation. Kevin Harrigan coud be added to the list of unguardable players. Is their enough shots to go around to keep everyone happy? Where will Hahn fit with this team?

B+

Predicted Record 7-9

Team Manzke aka Team Sandbag- Manzke took more new players then anyone in the draft including his first two picks. HHMM- does he know something that the rest of the captains did not know? Like last year, Team Manzke lacks size. With so many unknowns the jury will be out until at least week 6..

C+

Predicted record 7-9

8-8

Team John Healy- playing it safe and drafting guys he already knows, Healy wound up with a nice squad but he could regret passing up on Knapczyk  and Koll. No true PG  without Alkofer who will having trouble getting minutes on this team, although Slager and Carroll are capable of serving in that role. although not a small team they could use another “Big”.

B+

Predicted Record 10-6

Team McEldowney-nailed his first round pick but left his team without much size other than Gainer. Guinane although not a true “Big’ could help out more than expected on the boards and might even have a bit of a post-up game. Pete Spain is a perfect fit for this team and they have a solid bench with Bedell and McDonagh

Grade B+

Predicted Record 10-6

Team Wagner- another safe draft but with their lack of size will have to rely on team rebounding. Despite Greeno’s pre-draft warning not to pick him high, Wags went all in in the 3rd round. Could Greeno do what he did for Team Orange in which he lead them to back to back appearances in the Championship game. We will see. They have a solid bench. They will need to score in bunches.

Grade B

Predicted Record 9-7

Team Spadinii- Spadoni nailed his top two picks and Alex could help him win a Championship and make a few captains regret passing on him although he will miss the first few months of the season. Will he fit in when he returns? This team may be the first team to put up a 100 points this year. Golloghy might be a steal in the 4th and Alvosky and McGuffrage are the best value picks in the draft.

Grade- A+

Predicted finish  13-3

Team Statham-drafting in the 9th spot and passing on Alex Shimko was a big risk but one that could pay off in the end, Team Statham’s top 3 can  hang with anyone they are going to have to hope for some unexpected contributions from the rest of the squad. Team Statham, as usual, does not have a big squad but they are big enough. Grabbing his two boys guarantees the Elder Statham will get a few good looks from 3 he will just have to knock them down, This team will rely on running the floor will give them an advantage over a few teams and make up for their lack of size.

Grade B

Predicted finish 9-7
