Bye- Team Spadoni
6:00- Team Healy -8 v. Team Mikuzis- Both teams off an an 0-1 start and both teams struggled to find any chemistry and rhythm but both team should play better tonight and in the weeks ahead. I did not see Team Green’s game so I was unable to 3 of the new players in action but I still think they may have the deepest team in the league and may be a force to reckon with once they get use to playing with each other. Team Healy lost a tough one to Team O’Malley. They almost took it to OT but due to some poor execution on the last couple of possessions they cam up short. Had they gotten to OT, it might have been another story. The key to this game will be whether Team Green can stop the dynamic duo of Brown and Mariner. Both teams have plenty of size but do not expect much offensive production from the Bigs on either side but stil a slight edge to Team Healy. Both Teams have a solid bench so managing minutes for every one on the team will be s struggle moving forward. This game will come down to Healy’s top 3 vs. Mikuzis’s top 3.
7:00-Manzke -4 v. Shimko- Both teams will be short-handed but this game will come down to whether Team Manzke can control Alex and Bendo who are going to be forced to carry the load. It will be interesting to see who guards Bendo and Alex. Playing zone is not in Manzke’s blood. Shimko’s team might be forced to play zone simple because they are short-handed which will force Team Manzke to shoot form the outside and negate some of their quickness. Both Geirhahn and Manzke have the quick to break down any zone but who will they kick it out to. If Team Shimko can keep Team Manzke in a half-court game they have a shot at an upset even being short-handed.
8:00- Wagner -10 v. Bernard- Team Wagner is coming off a bye so who knows what to make of them although they look really solid on paper and have a very deep team. Getting Baker n the 6th and Dwyer in the 7th were both steals. In a league woefully lacking in Big men, letting Baker go until the 6th is down right criminal. This might be Wag’s best Team-he sure has plenty of firepower but we all know what happen last time we saw the Wagner-Hayes combination but this time they have Kevin Carroll who even by his own estimation is coming off a down year and he is extremely motivated that he still belongs as one of the elite player’s in this league. Team Bernard is come off a real tough loss in Week 1 and it looks like they will start the season 0-2 after tonight. They have a lot of good pieces but Team Chemistry will haunt them all year unless they get up to the bar and talk things out.
9:00- Stathamless v. O’Malley -10- In what was supposed to be one of the highlight games of the new season will now be nothing more than a dud. O’Malley will only have 6 or 7 but most importantly they will be missing McCann. Team Statham will be missing Cosme(injury) , Younger Statham(Honeymooning), Elder Statham(DL) and Nolan(work). Team Statham will only have 5 and Greeno will be coming direct from the airport after a 4 and 1/2 hour plane flight unless he tweaks his back running up the gym stairs. Bottom line, this game will reveal nothing about each team-we will have to wait for the second half for that.
Based on what I saw in week 1, my preliminary prediction for the final standings are as follows:
1.Team O’Malley
2.Team Wagner
3.Team Shimko
4.Team Manzke
5.Team Statham
6.Team Healy
7.Team Spadoni
8.Team Mikuzis
9.Team Bernard
