Draft night 2020 was a huge success. Great showing at our new sponsor “The Hideout” and good to see a bunch of new faces at the bar. 99% chance Brian Harrigan doesnt show up to the bar again this season but regardless, it was great to have him there.
We learned a lot about a few newer guys on draft night.
#1 Stahl is confident about his hoops abilities and is not afraid to get REAL CLOSE and make sure you know. just ask Manzke
#2 Linane has no problem winning a bunch of $$ from people and pulling a Houdini without continuing to gamble
#3 Tom O’Malley needs to bring more cash to 2021-2022 draft night
This year should end up being pretty even….after analyzing the draft there isn’t one team that sticks out as being dominant. The only certain is that Spadoni’s team will once again be the worst in the league. Lucky for Mike there is no play in game this year so it should be a pretty quick exit playing the # 1 seed in the playoffs.
PRE-SEASON RANKINGS
#1 Team O’Malley
#2 Team Brian Healy
#3 Team McEldowney
#4 Team Brian Harrigan
#5 Team Manzke
#6 Team John Healy
#7 Team DeCarlo
#8 Team Spadoni
Preview of Week 1
6pm O’Malley vs Harrigan
a few interesting matchups in this game….as always McCann will create a mismatch but team O’Malley is extremely small and will have rebounding issues if they cant make their outside shots. Matt McGinnis and Tom Gollogly will be the x factors for team Harrigan. both are hustle guys who can play D but pretty much stink offensively. Brian is secretly hoping Pat Harrigan doesnt show since he will definitely play more minutes than he should. Colin Sullivan and Mike Ramsden will be x factors for Team O’Malley. Mike hasnt played outside of a 3 on 3 at St Bedes so it will be interesting to see how his body handles a real court.
O’Malley 72-67
7pm Manzke vs DeCarlo
nothing better than a midget cousin rivalry week 1. Jay Gierhahn Vs Manzke hardly ever happens since marks wife only lets him leave the house when he is supervised by Jay and on his team. Cosme Vs Dan Henry will be an interesting matchup. Old & Old vs new & young…i can see Henry’s defense pissing Cosme off real good. Keaty Vs Tyler should be a good matchup to watch. Ive got my money on Tyler. this will be a low scoring game
Manzke 52-49
8pm Brian Healy vs John Healy
only thing better than a midget cousin rivalry is an oaf brother rivalry. Donny Doubles causes major matchup issues but so does Kevin Harrigan. Ryan Hannigan (hasnt played in 4yrs and hasnt left the house since Trump lost) or PJ Blough will have to guard Whitey and it wont go well for either of them. Team John Healy has a major unknown with their 2nd pick Patrick McCarthy….rumor has it he played d3 but with that being said, Joe Decarlo played d3 football so who the fuck knows. Game 1 for McCarthy will show if he was a steal or bust. Lets just hope he doesnt show up drunk like his d3 counterpart.
Brian Healy 57-53
9pm McEldowney vs Spadoni
its possible that this game could be the most lopsided of the year. McEldowney is big, has multiple knock down shooters and Tony Driscoll who is definitely in the pockets of the referees. Excited for Tony to get a taste of his own medicine after having to deal with Roz. Team McEldowney has 2 awkward behemoths on their team in Gainer and Sexton, will be interesting to see how they fit on the court together. Team Spadoni is hard to write about because i cant stop laughing at how bad they are going to be. will be interesting to see how Pat Statham plays without his dad and better looking brother in the stands. not quite sure how he will even get to games since he doesnt have a drivers license. the only x factor in this game is Rob because he is going to score 40.
McEldowney 75-55
