another regular season in the books and the playoffs are upon us…..before i get into detail, reminder that the 1st week of the playoffs is usually a very good bar night…this will be the last hurrah for 4 teams to show the Hideout and Ronnie a little respect. We will have a nice spread for dinner and will be ordering for a larger than normal crowd…please do your best to show face.

Play in Game
DeCarlo 62-Harrigan 50
Sunday mornings are the new tuesdays for team DeCarlo….in a game marred by complaining and poor referring, team DeCarlo flexed their muscles and blew out team Harrigan. Gierhahn and Packy were too much for a shorthanded team White and it ended their season with a thud. Impressive play by Brian Nichols kept team white in the game but couldnt withstand the ball movement and overall team play of team DeCarlo….up next for team Black is the 1 seed and early lines are tigher than you think
Playoff Matchups
6pm B Healy vs O’Malley
7pm Carroll vs DeCarlo
8pm Manzke vs Hanigan
9pm J Healy vs Mac
Playoffs in this league are a different animal than the regular season…chippy games with less whistles and more people trying to play defense….completely different vibe compared to the regular season. This year, it seems that anyone can win…..well, anyone but team DeCarlo or team Hanigan…but you know what i mean. The parity is incredible and i honestly think that 6 teams can figure out a way to win.
Odds to win the championship

Game preview and predictions
B Healy vs O’Malley
as they say in the sports world, its hard to beat a team 3 times in a row…..in the first 2 games, team Healy had its way with Team O’Malley….McCann wasnt at game 1 so doesnt really count but game 2 was controlled by Rob and Statham and most importantly, Conor Flannery played the game of his life scoring at least 15 and playing solid D. if they can replicate this formula they will be hard to beat. Team O’Malley is coming off a solid 2nd half of the year winning 2 of its last 3 and 5 of 8 in total even while being short handed….a few injuries to their top 3 in the last 2 weeks has fueled the doubters and to this point its not 100% confirmed that all 3 will play. Odds and predictions are based on all hands on deck for team O’Malley
Matchups
B Healy vs Ben Shrader—-rebounding edge to Healy, Defense Edge to Healy…overall knowledge of the game…spacing, cutting, ballmovement goes to Shrader- Edge goes to Shrader
McCann vs Rob—–McCann has the edge in quickness, slashing, defense while Rob is a significantly better shooter and facilitates the game better than most— Edge goes to McCann
Statham vs Sullivan—Statham has quickness, great shooter, quick release….Sully moves super well without the ball and when hot, can shoot with anyone in the league….Edge goes to Sully
O’Malley vs Rapp—Rapp is just an overall solid player….no mistakes and if he can get open shots will knock them down…O’Malley is fat and old but can still move a bit and if he can get in rythym, could score..neither play defense so this will come down to who has more energy to hit a big 3 in the 2nd half—–Edge goes to O’Malley
Bo vs Flannery—-this matchup will dictate the entire game….2 athletic guys both can slash but both like to take outside shots…..the winner of this matchup will dominate the boards and their scoring will be mostly in the paint. Edge goes to Bo
O’Malley 64 Healy 61
7pm Carroll vs DeCarlo
team Carroll had an incredible season even after losing their # 1 to a knee injury….historically, this has completely derailed teams (see Harrigan) but with the addition of Nate they found a way to dominate the regular season. I bet against this team a lot and if it were to have been real betting, i would have lost a lot of money…..BUT, i am still not sold that this squad can win the championship…..they are due for a total dud and although it may not come against DeCarlo, it will come. Team DeCarlo dominated Harrigan in the play in game and has gained some confidence and momentum going into this matchup. Gierhahn, Packy and Michael Healy wont go away easily.
Matchups
Gierhahn vs Tommy Foster—–both super quick guards, Gierhahn with more basketball experience and the ability to finish anywhere on the court—-Edge to Gierhahn
Michael Healy vs Tyler—–Tyler has the edge on the boards, Healy in better shape and can play outside—Edge to Tyler
Packy vs Bendo—-2 super fundamental players that dont make mistakes…Bendo has the size and defense advantage, Packy is a better shooter and has the stamina to go all day long—-Edge to Packy based on his recent shooting history
Hunt vs Nate—–Nate can score on the dribble and shoot, plays solid D and knows the game….Hunt, if he shows up, will play great D and runs the floor—Edge to Nate
Greg McNulty vs Burhans—-both bruisers, neither can score super well but both play great D and will not take a possession off—-Edge to Tie
Carroll 52 DeCarlo 48
8pm Manzke vs Hanigan
if we are being honest, this game is really the only bad one of the night…team Hanigan has limped into the playoffs with an embarrassing 2nd half losing 6 of 8 and is currently on a 6 game losing streak….Team Manzke on the other hand has won 3 of its last 4 and is back healthy after DOTY (just announced earlier than i expected to) missed games with a broken bone in his wrist….this squad looks good but the media has their doubts as to whether this squad can make a run to the finals….if we are continuing to be honest, i dont even know Hanigans lineup so i will not project matchups for this game….pretty confident that this will be a laugher
Manzke 52 Hanigan 28
9pm J Healy vs Mac
game of the night and its a shame that its at 9pm. 2 solid squads that have had weirdly similar results over the last 4 weeks of the season….team Red won 4 of their first 5 to start the half and then went on a super strange 3 game losing streak to end the regular season…..that 18th week bye came at an interesting time for this squad…..did it help them rest and forget about the previous 3 weeks or have they been stewing about losing their last 3 for the past 2 weeks? Its not going to be easy for team Red running into team J Healy who will be getting back Don McAvoy for the first time in 4 weeks…Team Green dominated the first half with a 6-2 record but then shit the bed in the 2nd half only winning 3 of 8. Losing Don to an ear injury hurt this squad but is anyone really listening???
Matchups
Donny vs Kennedy—-everyone has been waiting for this….2 accomplished college players both with the ability to shoot, drive, rebound and play D. Ironically, both players have missed a portion of the year with injuries but hoping that they are both at full strength tomorrow…..Edge goes to Kennedy—do you HEAR that Don?
Koll vs Slager—-even though these guys wont actually guard each other, i felt the need to compare the 2….Koll is solid in every aspect and changes the game when he can score the ball….Slager is a top 3 shooter in the league but is a dogshit defender—-Edge goes to Koll
Mac vs Shalvis—-Mac is a top 3 shooter in the league and hasn’t taken a possession off since 2003….cant finish in the lane but thats neither here nor there..Shalvis is a game facilitator and although he doesnt score much, changes the game for team Healy—-Edge to Mac
Gainer vs Healy—-2 complete oafs facing off in the post. Neither is notably athletic but both pose issues for opposing teams. Gainers arms are 7ft long and trying to go around healy is similar to a car navigating a roundabout….it takes a long ass time. this matchup will be won by who can score the most—-Edge goes to Healy
Slevin vs Wags/Schuch—-this matchup will be the x factor for both squads….Slevin has the potential to score and play D, Wags cant shoot the shit out of the ball and when Schuch’s conditioning is right, he can dominate with his size and athleticism. complete crap shot but ——-Edge to Slevin
Mac 66 J Healy 64
