Great turnout at the bar fellas including a couple of new faces. Welcome- the water was not as cold as you thought. And in case you have not heard- It is lonely at the top with Team Healy talking a lot of trash despite barely escaping with the W against an undermanned but very spirited Blue Team. I hope someone on Blue does a well-being check on Griggs since he blew a few circuits on his Fitbit last night. I think the Fitbit actually sent him the following message during the game: Please return this device to it proper owner- based on the unusually high output this can not possibly be Mr. Griggs. Ask J. Healy to show you the video from his kid’s christening party- it is not what you would expect and it will not disappoint trust me.

Rule Clarification: 4 time-outs per game. 2 a half. 1 TO will carry over to the second half. 1 additional TO in the each OT period in addition to any time-outs that were not used in regulation.  TOs will continue to carry over in successive OT periods. Hopefully, this will clarify things moving forward.

Never forget the adage: You are open for a reason- failure to understand this basic concept is a team killer.

3 really good games last night including an OT thriller.

Bye- Spadoni

6:00 -Statham 73 v, Wagner 68 (OT)- in the best game of the night- this was a back and forth the game with both teams missing a key player. Team Statham went up by 4 in regulation with less than 30 seconds left. Packy then came down and hit a tough contested 3 with Gierhahn draped all over him to cut the lead to 1 with 14 seconds left. Team Wagner  fouled Team Statham who proceeded to miss the  front end of a one and one but BMac grabbed a huge offensive rebound and was fouled immediately. BMac made the first FT but missed the second to give team Statham a 3 point lead with 10 seconds to go  and Bendo came down and hit a deep contested 3 at the buzzer to send the game into OT despite team Statham having a foul to give. Chalk up that sequence to poor coaching. Team Statham quickly took the lead in OT despite losing the opening tip and made all of their FTs to seal the deal. A great team effort by both teams as everyone who played scored. Team Statham’s help defense was a major factor and their willingness to set multiple screens for young Statham and Gierhahn fueled the offense. Team Wagner spread the ball around with Neil, Packy, Bendo, and Greeno all taking turns hitting big shots all night long. After a slow start to the season as he tries to get acclimated to the new league, Young Statham might be heating up which does not bode well for the rest of the league and for all those post-draft barstool prognosticators who may  have prematurely written off Team Orange as a legitimate contender- beware! And you never know when your time will come, as Garmes hit a huge 3 in regulation that helped changed the momentum after Team Wagner was starting to make a run.

7:00- J.Healy  64 v. B. Healy  61- Team Lonely  at the Top barely survived against a scrappy undermanned Blue Team thanks to clutch FTs by O’Malley and a game-winning “I have no conscience” 3 pointer by Slager as time expired to give Team Healy the win after back to back clutch 3s including a game-tying one by Fitz who is quickly making his presence felt after a 4 year hiatus. Team Healy fought hard but having only 5 guys was too much to overcome in the end especially playing against a full squad. Team B Healy is on life support due to injuries and poor attendance but help is only a few weeks away and brighter days are ahead. Meanwhile, Team B. Healy can not be to happy with the way they played or maybe it can just be chalked up to playing down to the competition.  Even with the loss, Team Blue can find some positives in that they may have discovered that they have another 3 pointer shooter on the team. Future opponents can only hope that he keeps shooting them even if his teammates do not. Team J.  Healy is alone at the top for now but they are still looking for that signature win that will solidify their shaky place atop the standings and convince the rest of the league that they are for real(although they still suck at the bar) Next week will be true test against Team O’Malley. Team B. Healy will be losing O’Malley for the season after next week  for work reasons meaning someone else will have to fill the void until they find a suitable replacement. T

8:00- McEldowney  60 v. O’Malley 59- an inexplicable misunderstanding of the TO rule unfortunately may have influenced the outcome of this game considering the 1 point margin of victory but Team O’Malley did not play very well and dug themselves a deep hole before  roaring back and actually having a chance to take the lead at the end of the game as Team McEldowney was holding on for dear life and eventually escaped with their second consecutive convincing win once again proving that initial thoughts on their potential success were totally off base. The upset was predicted but that was based on McCann not playing who apparently made a game time decision to give it a go. Team O’Malley’s second half “starving dog going after a pork chop” defense was a key to their comeback with Glanville giving McEldowney all he could handle. Team O’Malley had no answer for Rob who led the way on offense for team green. Team Green also got solid contributions from Guinane who is displaying a very effective post up game and can also step out and hit the 3, the always reliable Pete Spain with his bull dog defense and ability to knock down big shots and Dan Gainer giving them a big body down low who can get some easy buckets. Do not sleep on team Green. DeCarlo provided some huge minutes off the bench for Team O’Malley especially on the defensive end as O’Malley found it in his heart to give his bench some rare but significant minutes. This game featured an air ball dunk attempt that in retrospect might have been the difference had Team O’Malley scored on that possession and no it was not Ryan.

9:00- Harrigan  73 v. Manzke 58 – this was the least competitive game of the night only because Manzke was under the weather and they were missing Sexton and McNulty. Team Harrigan is another team that could make some noise before it is all over because they simply have more offensive fire power than anyone else in the league other than possibly Team Spadoni and Team J. Healy and they are averaging 70 plus points a game. They also have very capable Bigs that will make them a tough out in the play-offs. It is  hard to get a read on Team Manzke  because they have not had a full squad all year but at full strength they will give everyone they face a tough game and you will have to earn what you get. However, there are a few players who will have to have a better understanding of their roles as the season goes on. Team Harrigan will also have to commit to the defensive end on the night the shots are not falling and work on a better rotation when their entire team shows up.
